This is a view of the homestead of the 80 acre farm that Ferdinand Otto and Gertrude L.L. operated from 1941 until they moved to Garnavillo, Iowa to enjoy their retirement which was most likely in the early 1980s. This view was taken in May of 1972. The farm is located on the Garnavillo to Osterdock Road in Jefferson Township about four miles West of Guttenberg, Iowa. It is also located within a mile of Ceres Cemetery which is the final resting place for the remains of Ferdinand and Gertrude.

Ferdinand Otto Thiese – born December 22, 1914; married Gertrude L. Borcherding born October 2, 1917 on May 3, 1939 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, Iowa. Died December 24, 1999 and buried at Ceres Cemetery on U. S. Highway 52 near Guttenberg, Iowa.

Gertrude L. L. Borcherding Thiese – born near Osterdock, Iowa and died April 16, 2000 and also buried at Ceres Cemetery.
